Merrell Vapor Glove 2 Review

During the first week we picked up our new Merrell Glove 2 shoes. We took them out on the free run track that we made in an abandoned warehouse just outside of our town. Whilst not the top rated parkour shoe on this list. They were actually really great to do Parkour in because of the awesome comfort and grip offered. After realizing how comfortable these things really were. We tried wearing them to work and doing some different household chores to check the how they handle in all kinds of general situations.

Surprisingly, they also fared pretty well with menial tasks too. Overall, neither of had any pains in our feet like we had with other shoes, which by the way are not featured on our site anywhere. In addition to that, we actually felt far more relaxed than usual throughout the day because of the excellent comfort provided. I believe the pure comfort is their biggest strong point. Which means they are amazing for both indoor and outdoor activities. Merrell advertises them as extreme trail running shoes, which we could totally believe.

Good Parkour Shoes

Merrell Glove 2 Trail Running Shoe Review

We will be heading to Australia in a couple weeks for a work trip. But we will most definitely be brining the Merrell's with us. Hopefully, we can fit some trekking in our spare time. We'll let you know how the Vapor Glove 2 fared in the outback when we return. To conclude, we are really happy with the choice of shoe we made. I personally will keep using the Vapor Glove for daily, urban activities. I am hoping that they will keep strong in the next couple of years. As from time to time, they will see some adventure on local hiking trails.

Weirdly, did you know that they advertise this shoe as being vegan-friendly? I do not often look for signs that the product i'm buying does not harm or affect animals in any way, good to know though. Overall, the major strong point of these shoes is the fact that they are comfortable and resilient which makes them ideal for traceurs. Helping our feet cope with those long free running sessions with a lot of heavy impacts.

Merrell Trail Glove 3 Review

Having tried the Merrell brand of trail running shoes out before and found them to be some of our firm favorites in Shoes for Parkour, when we heard about the Merrell Trail Glove 3's coming out, we just had to try out a pair. As a minimalist shoe that comes in five assorted colors, we felt that they would be a worthy investment. They not only fit with pretty much any outfit we wanted, but the Microfibre Airmesh upper allows for some awesome breathability during those intense parkour sessions.

Whilst the sole feels a lot thicker than its previous model, the Merrell Trail Glove 2, we felt that this was actually a bonus. It helped offer protection from sharp objects or debris, which is especially great for those thinking of taking these out on rougher terrains. The upper part of the shoe molds to your foot to increase comfort and grip, whilst also being extremely hard wearing. The Vibram soles on these sturdy shoes make them a pleasure to run in and encourages proper running form, which is something we always strive for!

We wore this shoe every day for a month to trial them out during our parkour and heavy trail sessions. They barely look worn in. The durability and comfort of Merrell Trail Glove 3 is beyond what we would have expected given its marketing. It's advertised as a minimalist shoe that is meant to give the barefoot experience. You'd therefore expect a less comfortable shoe. They’re dependable, good parkour shoes that we’re sure we will find ourselves reaching for time and time again.

Good Shoes for Parkour Review

Merrell Glove 3 Shoe Review

One downside to this reliable pair of shoes though is the toe box can feel rather roomy if you have narrow to normal sized feet. Whilst not a major issue, this might mean that they work better for those who prefer a wider shoe. The Merrell Trail Glove 3’s sport some trendy looking reflective detail. They are washable in cold water and are the very best to be found in vegan friendly footwear, which is important to us as a group. We’re passionate about and love what we do so it feels good to know that no animals were harmed in the process of us doing our thing! We wish all brands were as animal friendly as Merrell!

Another possible downside is the price. You’re definitely paying for the brand and the ethical viability of the product, though this isn’t exactly bad. There are definitely cheaper shoes for parkour out there that are just as good, it comes down to how animal friendly you are. If being vegan friendly is really important to you, there’s simply no other shoe for you. They’re definitely worth the money.

To conclude, the Trail Glove 3 lives up to the reputation Merrell has built with its range of ethically made shoes. Although it’s described as a minimalist trail running shoe, you’d get a better barefoot experience with its sister shoe, the Vapor Glove 2. This isn’t an issue for us though as we found the thicker sole to be a worthy tradeoff for the protection and comfort it provided. With our last pair of Merrell Trail shoes lasting a good four years, we expect to get just as long if not longer out of these too.

Merrell Bare Access 4 Review

This week we're conducting a Merrell Bare Access 4 review, and we've been quite pleasantly surprised! When we first found them on Amazon, we were a bit disappointed by the limited colour options, especially since they looked rather retro. Not to be deterred, we pushed ahead and bought a couple of pairs to trail out for you guys.

Being a Merrell shoe, it of course has a Vibram sole. A Vibram sole is a sole that was designed specifically to provide excellent traction on a wide range of surfaces. It also boasts a high level of abrasian resistance which is pretty much essential for any kind of parkour. The shoe also features a 0mm heel-to-toe differential which really accentuates that barefoot feeling.

The style of the shoe itself is pretty great too, it has reflective detail so that you're safe if you're doing some free running out late at night. They're a good snug fit with no trailing laces which can be a hazard, and they're covered in a mesh upper which allows for extreme breath-ability during heavy use. As with most modern Merrell products, they also feature Select M Fresh technology which naturally eliminates sweat and odour that may build up in the shoe. This is a fantastic feature that us here at Best Parkour love about all the Merrell shoes we've reviewed so far.

Merrell Access 4 Shoe Reviews

Some users of the shoe reported an issue with the sole slowly coming away at the bottom, but after trialling a couple of pairs for a couple of weeks we had no issues with this. They definitely provide more cushion on the sole than the Merrell Trail Glove's we reviewed and we found they give just enough support without detracting from the barefoot feel effect.

Overall the Merrell Bare Access 4's performed very well given the tough environments we subjected them too. We used them for hikes, free running and even some rock-climbing for a couple of days one weekend. They've proven themselves to be durable, comfortable and super breathable, which is no less than we expect from the Merrell brand.

Information about the Merrell Free Running Shoes

The brand Merrell started out making hiking boots for outdoor enthusiasts. Over the last three decades the company has grown and now offer ground breaking multi-sport technology. Their core values as a company are to provide a comfortable fit, seamlessly great design, fantastic durability and overall versatility. As a group, we have reviewed three of Merrell’s great shoes for parkour and can confidently confirm that in our experience, they have held to all four of their core values with every shoe.

Among those reviewed are the Merrell Vapour Glove 2, Merrell Trail Glove 3 and the Merrell Bare Access 4’s. One great selling point of all three of these shoes that we found, is the brands dedication to vegan friendly shoes. Surprisingly for a large name brand, Merrell offer a range of vegan friendly shoes. These are shoes that do not contain materials that have been tested on animals or any animal product (such as leather). As one of our team is a dedicated full-time vegan of 12 years, this was a massive selling point for them.

In terms of the shoes themselves, we found them wonderfully comfortable and surprisingly durable. You’d think that using alternative materials for the design of the shoe would hinder the quality, however this is not the case. The Merrell shoes we reviewed are among some of the most durable we have tested so far. We put our Merrell Trail Glove 3’s especially through some pretty rough and rigorous testing, trailing them for a whole month with heavy everyday use before reviewing. They held up fabulously. Not only that, but the comfort of a Merrell shoe is unparalleled. Merrell shoes feature Vibram soles and microfibre airmesh upper. This means that they not only offer the best that can be found in comfortable soles for hard landings, but also they’re extremely breathable. This helps to reduce odour and allow your feet the feeling of being entirely barefoot, along with the added bonus of manoeuvrability within the shoe.

This is supported by Merrell’s Select M Fresh technology which naturally eliminates sweat and odour that may build up in the shoe. We found that the majority of Merrell’s running shoes sport this nifty technology which we found to be an added bonus on top of an already great catalogue of benefits of buying Merrell shoes.

In particular, we found the Merrell Trail Glove 3’s to be outstanding in the arena of parkour shoes, coming second only to our favorite Take Flight 1.0’s in our overall leader board of the best parkour shoes of 2017. Not only are they vegan, sport the Select M Fresh technology as well as the Vibram soles, they also come in a wonderful range of colours. They have bags of style, they stand out in a crowd and they offer exactly what any heavy parkour or traceur runner would want in a shoe. While the Merrell Vapour Glove 2 fared well overall, it wasn’t quite as durable when it came to the heavy parkour sessions and the Bare Access 4’s have an issue with the sole that we, and some others have experienced. See below for the full review of all Merrell Parkour Shoes that we reviewed.
